O’Malley and Langan’s Second Annual Canoe Trip
Benefitting “The Bill Bursis Foundation for Spinal Cord Research”

Scranton, PA, July 28, 2008

This July 31st through August 3rd be a part of O’Malley and Langan’s second annual “Todd’s Up The River Without a Paddle” canoe trip! Attorney Todd O’Malley and friends will travel from Towanda to Pittston to raise money for The Bill Bursis Foundation for Spinal Cord Research. The trip also raises awareness of the beautiful water corridor the Susquehanna River offers the people of Northeastern Pennsylvania.

The annual fundraiser is meant to assist Mr. Bursis’ foundation benefitting “The Miami Project” in their research of spinal cord injuries. The Miami Project is the world's largest comprehensive spinal cord injury research center and the organization remains dedicated to finding more effective treatments and, ultimately, a cure for paralysis. In fact, immediately after last year’s canoe trip Buffalo Bills football player Kevin Everett’s mobility was saved by a cooling therapy protocol developed by The Miami Project.

Mr. Bill Bursis, the founder of the Bill Bursis Foundation, is a former state police dispatcher who sustained a high spinal cord injury in 1990, leaving him a quadriplegic. Mr. Bursis has since seized the opportunity to help other victims of spinal cord injuries. Since 1996, Bill has raised an astounding $450,000 for spinal cord research as a result of an annual golf tournament he has hosted at Woodloch Springs. Now, he has expanded his efforts. Mr. Bursis has joined forces with O’Malley and Langan in their first and second annual canoe trips to develop a new charity event that will benefit The Miami Project for years to come.

If you are interested in contributing to this worthy cause, pledges can be made by sending a donation to O’Malley and Langan, P.C. 426 Mulberry St., Suite 104 in Scranton, Pa. 18503. All checks can be made payable to the “Bill Bursis Foundation”.All proceeds from The Bill Bursis Foundation for Spinal Cord Research are donated directly to The Miami Project.
